Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat If you want to join in grab your current read, flick to a random page, select two sentences (without spoilers) and share them in a blog post or in the comments of Books and a Beat.
This week my teaser comes from Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver which I got from the local library. I’m only about a third of the way through and finding it a little slow but going on some of the reviews I’ve read and my previous experience of this author’s books I still have high hopes for a big finish.
Synopsis (from GoodReads)
Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara’s beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged. When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked. Now Nick has to find her sister, before it’s too late.
In this edgy and compelling novel, Lauren Oliver creates a world of intrigue, loss, and suspicion as two sisters search to find themselves, and each other.
My Teaser
“It’ll be just like old times,” Parker says, and I feel a hard ache in my chest, a desperate desire for something lost long ago.
Everyone knows you can’t go back.

Happy reading everyone.
I read this one last year and wasn’t as excited about it as some others… I hope it picks up for you soon though! I like the teaser.

Uh oh! That doesn’t bode well for me. I’m around halfway through now and have to admit it’s still not that exciting 🙂

That’s interesting, because it ought to be really gripping with a premise like that! I hope the ending does deliver and many thanks for swinging by earlier:). Happy reading!

It may pick up but at the moment there isn’t a character I can really relate to or particularly like.

Oh dear:(. I’m impressed that you’ve stuck with it for so long. I would have tossed it in the DNF pile by now…

I do like the authors writing and I had similar issues at the start of Before I Fall so I’m still holding out hope

Her writing is actually very good as you can probably tell from the quote. It just seems to be a little slow to get going
