Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat If you want to join in grab your current read, flick to a random page, select two sentences (without spoilers) and share them in a blog post or in the comments of Books and a Beat.
This week my teaser comes from The Ex Factor by Eva Woods which I received as an ARC from NetGalley. I’m being a little bit of a cheat as I’ve picked the couple of sentences I want to share rather than picking at random. Sorry but as it referenced another literally work and made me laugh I couldn’t resist.
Warning, there are some spoilers for Tess of the D’Urbevilles if you don’t know the story.
My Teaser
Tess of the D’Urbevilles, right – she had a pretty good thing going with that dairy. Why didn’t she set up her own business selling organic yoghurts? But no, instead she gets ditched by slut-shaming Angel and then heads on back to rapey old Alec.
~ Location 1012 The Ex Factor by Eva Woods
Synopsis (from GoodReads)
Is it possible to freecycle love?
Modern dating is hard, especially when all you meet are liars, oddballs, men who wear Superman pants and men who live with their mums.
So why not date someone who already comes pre-approved? Just because your friend’s ex wasn’t right for her doesn’t mean that he won’t be right for you. That’s Marnie’s new plan for herself and her three best friends, perennially single Helen, recently divorced Rosa and cynical lawyer Ani.
Through bad dates and good, the four friends begin to realise that there are advantages to dating pre-screened men…but there can be some serious pitfalls to falling for your friend’s ex.
Happy reading everyone.
We usually handpick our teasers too . . . I’m sure most people do. Otherwise you just get things that are dull or uninteresting.

Comes out at the start of Sept and is an interesting idea. Would you date your best friends ex?
Thanks for visiting. I’ll stop by your TT but usually can’t leave comments due to some weird blogspot/wordpress issue.

I have to admit to being anti Angel in Tess. He chucks her for essentially getting raped, changes his mind and wants her back then when she’s arrested goes off and marries the sister???

Oh hell yes – I HATE Angel Clare! Mealy-mouthed long streak of uselessness… Though I believe Hardy specifically wrote him that way to challenge people’s notions of what was good behaviour in such a situation…

Happy reading! Here’s my teaser of The Last Girl by Joe Hart.

I actually finished it a couple of days ago and really enjoyed it. It’s slightly unusual for chick lit in that you can’t quite guess how it’ll end which I liked.

My ex-husband married one of my best friends – because he knew and already liked her…:). This one sounds really funny and sharp – hope you go on enjoying it and thank you for sharing.

I can see how it could work but I can also see how it would be kind of awkward. Suppose it depends on the individuals. I’m not sure I’d want a friend and an ex getting together but probably my paranoid nature 🙂

Hm… We have drifted apart, since – though I still like her.

I love it when books alluded to other works that I am familiar with! This book sounds like it has so much humour in it. I hope that you are enjoying this one. 🙂
