Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat If you want to join in grab your current read, flick to a random page, select two sentences (without spoilers) and share them in a blog post or in the comments of Books and a Beat.
This week my teaser comes from Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. This is a book I’ve been looking forward to for a while and although it’s pretty early days I am enjoying it so far. It feels like it’s been far too long since I’ve read this type of book.
Synopsis (from GoodReads)
She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.
Destined to wind up “wed or dead,” Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she’d gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan’s army, with a fugitive who’s wanted for treason. And she’d never have predicted she’d fall in love with him… or that he’d help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is.
My Teaser
It was damn hard to trust a boy with a smile like that. A smile that made me want to follow him straight to the places he’d told me about and made me sure I shouldn’t at the same time

Happy reading everyone.
Interesting quote – is it romance? That’s mine: http://earthianhivemind.net/2016/06/14/teaser-tuesday-june-14/

It’s supposed to be fantasy but there does seem to be quite a lot of romance so far.

I’m really liking it so far. Did love the MC at the start but some of her actions re Tamid were a bit questionable so I’m having doubts about her. Definitely can’t wait to see how she develops.

I’m around halfway through at the moment and I’m liking it but not quite loving it. I think the final verdict will depend on how the main character develops 🙂

I’ve got this on my TBR list — it sounds like a fun romantic fantasy. Fantasy romance? One of those! 😀
