Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat If you want to join in grab your current read, flick to a random page, select two sentences (without spoilers) and share them in a blog post or in the comments of Books and a Beat.
This week my teaser comes from The Night Stalker by Robert Bryndza which I received as an ARC from NetGalley. This is the second in the DCI Erika Foster series which I have to say I’m really enjoying at the moment. I liked the previous book, The Girl in the Ice, a lot but I think this one is actually better.
Synopsis (from GoodReads)
If the Night Stalker is watching, you’re already dead…
In the dead of a swelteringly hot summer’s night, Detective Erika Foster is called to a murder scene. The victim, a doctor, is found suffocated in bed. His wrists are bound and his eyes bulging through a clear plastic bag tied tight over his head.
A few days later, another victim is found dead, in exactly the same circumstances. As Erika and her team start digging deeper, they discover a calculated serial killer – stalking their victims before choosing the right moment to strike.
The victims are all single men, with very private lives. Why are their pasts shrouded in secrecy? And what links them to the killer?
As a heat wave descends upon London, Erika will do everything to stop the Night Stalker before the body count rises, even if it means risking her job. But the victims might not be the only ones being watched… Erika’s own life could be on the line.
My Teaser
‘How predictable. What a cliché. The damaged female DCI, too busy for anyone but her work,’ said Stephen, still typing.

Don’t have nightmares 🙂 (sorry there’s a crimewatch reconstruction so I couldn’t resist)
Happy reading everyone.
Yes, I want to know more! This sounds terrific! And terrifying 😊

Thankfully not too scary although I was thinking last night that I should maybe keep my doors and windows locked 🙂

I seem to be going on a bit of a summer crime spree as a lot of the books I have lined up are mystery/thrillers. Makes a nice change 🙂

Oh yes! It’s good to mix it up – and I think when it’s nice and sunny, then is the time to read lots of mayhem and murder. Far better than when it’s cold and gloomy and you need cheering up:)

I really want to read this one! It’s definitely great to hear you are enjoying The Night Stalker better than the first one; it makes me even more excited about the sequel. 😀

Just when I was thinking that it looks like any other suspense-thriller I’ve read, it throws a line like that and now I’m very curious indeed.

I did love that bit in the book as the character is a crime writer commenting that the lead in the book is cliched. As a story it probably isn’t that unique but the writing’s pretty good so it doesn’t really matter 🙂
