Game of Thrones Tag

It’s been a while since I’ve done a tag so when Chloe from the wonderful Paint and Butterflies Books tagged me for the Game of Thrones Tag I couldn’t resist. I will admit that I haven’t read the books but I absolutely love the show and will use any excuse to talk about it. The tag was created by Orang-utan Librarian which doesn’t surprise me as it’s a great source of GoT info for those like me who occasionally lose the plot on the show. Anyway,

The Rules:

  1. Mention the creator Orang-utan Librarian.
  2.  Answer ALL of the questions.
  3. Be a Lannister and pay your debts, tag people and keep it going!

Here we go…

PART ONE: BOOK QUESTIONS!

we do not sow

We do not sow- A book you would not be willing to invest in:

I’m going to go with Ensnared by A.G. Howard for this one. It’s the third and final book in the Splintered series. I’ve read the first two books and quite enjoyed them but not enough that I want to buy the final book in the series. I think there’s maybe also a bit of frustration that not much happened until the very end of the second book and then there was loads of action and a big cliffhanger. To me that always feels like a blatant ploy to make you buy the final book.Ensnared (Splintered, #3)

Fire and blood

Fire and blood – A book that produced strong emotions in you:

This is a pretty easy choice for me at the moment as I very recently finished The Deviants by C.J. Skuse. It’s one of those very subtle books that creeps up on you and draws you completely into the lives of the characters. By the end I think it had broken my heart a little bit.

The Deviants

winter is coming

Winter is coming – Your favourite winter reads:

I have to admit to an addiction to all of the romantic Christmas reads. Last year my favourite was definitely Meet Me in Manhattan by Claudia Carroll. There’s romance, there’s New York and there’s lots and lots of fun in the snow. I was kind of tempted to jump on a plane and head over myself as soon as I finished it 🙂Meet Me In Manhattan

Some of my other favourites include Christmas at Tiffanys by Karen Swan and Christmas Ever After by Sarah Morgan.

family duty honor

Family. Duty. Honour – A book about strong family ties:

Hmm..I have to admit I’m struggling with this one a bit…. I know, how about The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. There’s a really big family element both in terms of Clary and her Mom and also Alec and Isabelle

There’s also that big question over who Jace’s parents are and what his relationship to Clary is.

(As an aside I know you’re not supposed to like the film but I kinda did)

growing strong

Growing Strong A Book you had low expectations of but grew on you:

I’m going to have to go with Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins for this one. I was expecting your typical YA contemporary romance, and it kind of is but Perkins’ writing turns it into something special.Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)

There’s just something very sweet and cute and funny about it which makes me think I really should read Lola and the Boy Next Door soon(ish).

Ours is the fury

Ours is the fury- A Book that made you furious:

I do occasionally feel the need for a bit of a mad rant over books when they annoy me but I don’t think any have actually made me furious. Probably the most recent book that annoyed me was Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover.

It is very well written and I would probably recommend but Tate just wound me up so much. She lets Miles treat her like dirt and keeps pushing him for things he’s not ready for and has made it very clear he doesn’t want to do.Ugly Love

unbowed unbent

Unbowed, unbent, unbroken A book you have unwavering devotion to:

This has absolutely got to be Fifty Shades of Grey, just kidding, although I do actually find it quite an enjoyable read. Seriously though I think I’m going to go a little off the usual path with this one and go for The Nothing Girl by Jodi Taylor. It’s my happy book. You know, that book that you reach for whenever you’re feeling a little bit down and depressed  or even just because it’s there.

The Nothing Girl

A Lannister always pays his debts -A book you feel indebted to:

hear me roar

This is probably the one I struggled most with as I get something from a lot of the books I read and in a way I feel indebted to all of them. It does kind of lend itself a little bit to non fiction so I thought I’d go for a couple of authors whose books have made a big difference to an important part of my life, my relationship with my horse.

I love riding and spending time with my horse but it’s safe to say we haven’t always had the easiest of relationships. He’s always had the less is more attitude (he’s chronically lazy) and can be extremely stubborn leading to a lot of frustration. Mark Rashid and Kelly Marks books went a long way to helping me with the problems we were having. Mark’s books are more stories than practical how to guides but they definitely gave me a better understanding of what goes through my horses head. Kelly’s books are more practical and have some great exercises that helped me a lot.

PART 2: FAN THEORIES

Who do you want to win Game of Thrones?

I know he isn’t really in the running at the moment but I’d love to see Tyrion Lannister creep his way onto the Throne. He seems to have the gift of the gab so maybe he’ll manage to talk his way there, or more likely get himself killed.

Who do you think will make it to the end and who do you think will die?

With GoT who really knows. The one thing you can probably be certain of is that it’s the person you least expect and will come out of nowhere. I think I’ll just go with who I want to live or die.game of thrones hbo excited scream screaming

As you can probably tell I’m a big Tyrion fan so I’m hoping he will be sneaky enough to slip through unscathed. Other than that I’d like to see Arya make it (she seems pretty indestructible), Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed the dragons will be ok.

Death wise I have high hopes that someone will bump off Cersei, Sansa and Bran. Cersei is good for shock value but the other two are just meh.

PART 3: MY GAME OF THRONES

Would you win or die?

I don’t think I’d have a hope in hell of winning. I think I’d just try to keep my head down and survive although being female and not Brienne that seems unlikely. I suspect I’d be bumped off at the very start 🙂

What house are you?

If they manage to get rid of Bran and Sansa I’ll probably go Team Stark.

So that’s it. I hope you enjoyed. I know this is the part where I’m supposed to tag some people but I always seem to be really late to tags so I’m going to leave it open so anyone who wants to have a go, can

Happy reading everyone!

  1. Great post! I actually *really* liked the Mortal Instruments film- I thought it was pretty accurate and the only thing they got wrong was Morgenstern a pantomime villain- which they could’ve changed later on. To me, it was a million times better than the show. Ooh I should check out the Nothing Girl! Who doesn’t love Tyrion? I’m totally rooting for him- though I want him as either hand of the king or ending up retiring in some lovely cottage away from all the action. Yup I’d be bumped off too- and the Starks are great, but I’m one of those mental targaryens, mostly cos I love dragons
