The WWW Wednesday meme is currently hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and is a great way to do a weekly update on what you’ve been reading and what you have planned.
To take part all you have to do is answer the following three questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading
I started reading We Were Liars by e. lockhart yesterday and it’s so addictive I’m already around 70% of the way through. I feel like this is one of those books that everyone has read but me. I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up before now. It’s been sitting on my kindle for ages but I just don’t think I’ve been in the right mood. I am however going to see the author in Glasgow next week so I kind of felt like I should read at least one of her books 🙂
Recently Finished
It was a super busy week at work for me unfortunately (everyone bar me is on holiday) so only two books finished, This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab. Schwab also has an author event next week in Edinburgh so it gave me the excuse I needed to just sit and binge read both books in her Monsters of Verity Duology.
It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and just read a whole series so it was great to be able to do that with these. I do kind of wish I’d picked them up a little bit sooner as I stumbled across some spoilers for the ending (why do people do this???) which put a bit of a dent in my enjoyment. I have to say therefore that while I do think Schwab has created a wonderful world and some memorable characters I preferred her Shades of Magic series.
Reading Next
As well as Victoria Schwab and E. Lockhart I’m also going to see Katherine Webber (she’s interviewing E. Lockhart) so I plan on reading Wing Jones over the weekend. I’ve heard some really great things about this book (mostly from one particular blogger) so I’m very excited to finally be reading it.
I suspect after that I’ll be totally YA’d out so I plan on flipping back to my NetGalley shelf and picking up either Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker or Yesterday by Felicia Yap. I do also have How to Stop Time by Matt Haig though and it’s proving very difficult to resist. I’m kind of hoping it’s an instruction manual so that I can actually make it through my TBR 🙂
Have you read any of the books on my list this week? Any others you’d recommend? As always please feel free to leave comments and links below.
Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!
Lovely varied selection this week Ali – I have Yesterday to read too although I’m also very tempted by the Wendy Walker. Have a great reading week!

Thanks. My readings been a little heavy on YA and fantasy lately so I definitely need to mix it up a bit. Really looking forward to both Yesterday and Emma in the Night.

We were liars has been on my TBR for a while now. Your comments about it have me intrigued. I am already tempted to move it up to my TBR. I like the vibe that Emma in the Night gives. I hope it will be an enjoyable read. Happy reading Ali 😉

I have a feeling We Were Liars is one people either love or hate. It has a very different writing style and feel about it which I am definitely loving.

I read the first few pages of How To Stop Time in the store where I bought it and wanted to read the rest immediately so I had a feeling it would be good.

I actually cried reading We Were Liars which hardly ever happens with me! E Lockhart is in Liverpool next week too but I’m away so I’ll miss it! I hope you enjoy all the author events- I’m very envious!

I was reading it on the train this morning which was probably a huge mistake considering I’m nearing the end. I think I’ll finish it at home tonight.
If you’re interested in Lockharts next book I did see it on Readers First.

I think its release date is fast approaching so it will no doubt pop up everywhere over the next couple of weeks. I enjoyed the authors last book so am looking forward to it.

I want to read Emma in the Night soon – I hope it’s a good one. I haven’t read anything by that author, yet. Enjoy!

I read her last book and while I didn’t love it I did enjoy it. I have high hopes this will be even better.

I haven’t read We Were Liars either. I’m not reading young adult at the moment. I go through phases with my genres and seem to be in mystery/police procedural and science fiction phases at the moment!
I envy you going to Glasgow and meeting all the authors you’ve been reading. That will be fun! Have a great week.

I remember reading We Were Liars years back and somehow not liking it that much. But I’m glad you’re liking it better! And Victoria Schwab doesn’t disappoint, right? Her books are just all amazing!
Hope you enjoy meeting the authors next week. I’m yet to meet authors here in our country since, you know, they never go here! Haha 😀

I think it’s one of those books people either love or hate. I think I’m just finding it really different from the other books I’ve been reading.
You’ll need to convince a few thousand people to read your favourite authors books and that should convince them to come 😀

I personally wasn’t a fan of We Were Liars but it’s good to hear the experience was positive for you! And one of the reasons I want to read Our Dark Duet ASAP is that I haven’t been spoiled yet and that won’t last forever. 😉 I agree I prefer her Shades Of Magic books but I did love This Savage Song as well. I hope you will enjoy your books this week and happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

I did get the feeling We Were Liars would be one of those books that people would love or hate. Thankfully it suited me.
I was not happy about Our Dark Duet spoilers. Why can’t people review or tweet the author without giving the ending away. So annoying. I’m now wondering whether I need to rush off and read Vicious before someone ruins that.

We Were Liars is definitely a love or hate book… I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews out there. And I think you are relatively safe when it comes to Vicious since it isn’t her most popular book (although it’s still very good and love the superpower element!).

I literally sat and did nothing else but read until I finished We Were Liars (OK I had to go to work but other than that). I absolutely loved it. I just want to know what happens next.
I’m currently saving my Readers First points so I can snag a physical ARC of her next book Genuine Fraud.

I’ve never read We Were Liars before either, lol you’re not the only one! but I just checked it out! I’ll probably start it tonight! 🤗 my library doesn’t have Emma in the Night as an eBook but it sounds good enough I might actually check for a physical copy! Thanks for the awesome suggestions! 😊
